Foz Wetlands Wastewater Treatment Plant | Sanitary Effluents

Wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) for wastewater treatment with reuse standards.

Wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) for wastewater treatment with reuse standards.

The proposed system for the Wetlands Foz Wastewater Treatment Plant aims to treat all sanitary effluents from an Ecomuseum. The arrangement consists of primary treatment (compartmentalized anaerobic reactor) followed by a two-stage, horizontally aerated constructed wetlands system, with the objective of reusing the effluents for irrigation and/or disposal in infiltration trenches.

The solution was designed to integrate seamlessly with the landscape of the project, ensuring free access for guided tours and reinforcing the environmental education concepts of the Ecomuseum. To ensure greater visibility for visitors, a passageway was designed to display the effluent after treatment. The final disposal is done in infiltration trenches integrated into an orchard.

The company Wetlands Construídos was responsible for the detailed engineering design of the Wetlands Wastewater Treatment Plant and all the surrounding landscape architecture.
