The Wetlands CRC wastewater treatment plant, installed at a construction site in the state of Mato Grosso, serves a population of 800 housed workers, with a daily flow rate of 98,000 L.
The objective of the Wetlands CRC wastewater treatment plant is to produce recycled water for wetting the roads that lead workers to the construction site.
The client's objective in choosing wetlands technology was to generate water with reuse standards, but:
- without expenses for sludge management;
- without high operational costs;
- without requiring specialized labor;
- without generating odor and noise;
- appropriating the aesthetic and environmental quality of the Wetlands wastewater treatment plant to add value to the community;
- allowing the wastewater treatment plant to be transferred to the public sector at the end of the project;
The Wetlands CRC wastewater treatment plant has the following arrangement: (1) preliminary treatment, consisting of medium and fine screening; (2) Equalization tank with aerator and set of submersible pumps for sewage pumping; (3) Electromagnetic flow meter; (4) Saturated bottom vertical wetland; (5) Aerated horizontal wetland; (6) Disinfection system with chlorine dosing; (7) Reclaimed water storage tanks; (8) Infiltration trenches for non-reused excess.
The final effluent (after disinfection) meets the standards defined by ABNT NBR 16.783/19 for reuse in non-potable purposes, such as cleaning outdoor areas, wetting roads, irrigation, and other similar uses.
